 The Sukhoi Su-25 is a tough airframe which is now at a full squadron to add air support to my Soviet and Warsaw Pact troops.

In December of 1984, the East German Airforce was issued the Sukhoi Su-22M4 fighter bombers. 

So my East Germans have the ability to deliver a good amount of air support to theor troops as well as their allies.

I decided to give the DDR force these as they have no helicopters.

So after nealy a year, I finally got them assembled and a basic paint job. I'll decal later.

So my Soviet and Warsaw Pact units finally have full air power. Now it will remain to be seen if the dice rolls bring them in

My Team Yankee games

 As anyone who has read this blog may have figured out, I have played this game with whatever models I have had.

I've checked with the Battlefront website and have found out that the way I do my games is by theme not tournament lists.

Well Ya!

Case in point. My Canadian armoured unit, the Royal Canadian Dragoons started off with only 3 Leopard 1s which were Roco Mini tanks models.

Now, I have 15 Battlefront Minatures versions for Canada!

The only other tank for e i have that big are my British.

My theme as I have noted before is play with what you have.

More IS-2 for whomever

 So I picked up a Plastic Soldier Company set of 15mm IS-2 tanks. This will give me a whole platoon of them along side the 2 I had previously painted up in Syrian desert colours. So far I have built them, but need paint for them.

I plan on painting these ones in Soviet green and have as a reserve tank force for any of my Warsaw Pact forces.

Im not that far off with the Russians using old gear.

As of October 14, 2024,  Russian forces have been noted using a type of howitzer which they sold to client states in the 1950s but are now using in Ukraine. 

Osprey T-34 which i listed either on this blog or Grampies War noted that those tanks were still being used in the 1990s, which i also have pictorial evidence in other publications. 

So, I defined will be tossing in some Soviet older gear in my games!

Soviets vs West Germans

 A combined T-72B, T-80 shock company with T-72s, T-62, T-55AM with  BMP Motorized Rifle Regiment is hitting a West German and Dutch force.

The West Germans have a reservist Leopard 1 battalion with M113 Reservists, backed up by M48 Reservists. Plus artillery

The Dutch have a full Leopard 1  battalion with reccee, artillery and Light infantry in M113s

West Germany Reservist tanks. Also the regular Panzer platoon is also in the mix, the West German commander deciding that he didn't want to loose all his tanks at once so keeping them as a reserve

West German Recce, but I have my Dutch cards up

The West German Recce Luchs troop made first contact with the enemy and we're paying the price. The Light Infantry were running in with anti-tank weapons to slow down the advance.

a real mixed bag of Soviet tanks. Of course the reccee units lead and are doing rather well. The T-80s have fared well, better than the regular T-72s. The upgraded versions also holding their own. 

On the Soviet left flank, the T-55 battalion are not doing well having gotten bogged down in a farmers field.

The Dutch are holding their own, the combined artillery causing a wall of steel rain to halt progress.

The Soviet Infantry are in the process of advancing but with the artillery are having a tough go of it.
