Soviet-Polish attack British Challenger force

 A Soviet Polish force made up of A Polish Motorized Battalion supported by a T-54 squad and a Soviet mixed force of T-72, T-62, IS-2, and mixed older weapons pushes up against the Queens Own Hussars, and the Staffordshires, and Gordon Highlanders. 

The first attack the Warsaw Pact put down drove back the British infantry. RA support was extremely ineffective due to the Soviets ability to jamm radar and radio communications to the batteries.

The first group of Polish troops advanced by BTR-50 who then departed to rejoin their Naval infantry brigade.

A further Polish Motorized Rifles Battalion in Bmps arrived 

The British continued to hold on chewing up everything the Warsaw Pact force threw at them

BMP batallion

 So since I'm getting reimbursed for my work travel, I decided to order the BMP battalion which shall become the Polish battalion.

 It was  on back order but is to be delivered this week. So now I have to sort out who gets what from my starter sets.

So far I've made sure the Poles, East Germans and Czechs all have Spandrels and the anti aircraft units.

My East Germans will get the BMP-1 top hulls to form up their BMP battalion.

The Poles get the majority of the carriers as they had virtually none. 

T-72 Battalion

 I ordered the large box set from Battlefront Miniatures. I plan on painting them as generic in order to use for any Warsaw Pact force.

My East Germans will get the T-55s, my Poles to get the T-72.  The Poles already have T-55s

So far I've built 1 T-55A for the East Germans.

I got an Update from Battlefront and the order was sent May 2, 2023 so I shall see when it arrives.

ANZAC and Netherlands vs East Germans and Polish, Almeldo Netherlands August 14, 1985

The ANZAC and Dutch have put a fair bit of kit in the wooded section with a section of ploughed fields, made of felt furniture pieces.

Gun buggies are rearing to go up the road note the new entrenchment pieces I made from furniture felt pieces picked up in one of the stores in Sanirjak, Nunavut.

The Polish T-55 regiment readies to advance.

 The NATO offensive continues. While the East Germans and Polish Division push south west, NATO forces are blocking the Warsaw Pact drive. 

The initial Warsaw Pact advance saw them rush into contact. The Warsaw Pact recce units tried to rush into town but were stopped by the Dutch armor and Dutch reservist infantry. 5/7th RAR gun buggies were able to halt the BTR-60s while the Australian Cavalry recce halted the Warsaw Pact infantry rush on the entrenched Milan teams.

 My initial T-55 which I was able to get were the Roco ones in the 1990s. Eventually, I painted them as East Germans.

My entire T-55 tanks a mixed division now. This one has Polish, Hungarian and East German

In the 2000s, my then wife allowed me to order some metal kits for my birthday around 2002, those kits have likewise added to the Polish and Hungarian force.

Now with Team Yankee, the main Warsaw Pact Nations being Soviets, East Germans, Poles and Czechs, I'll build them as such.

 I've ordered some more Soviet infantry via the Aviation museum in Nova Scotia and a set of Cuban Grenade launchers for the new Red Dawn series.

And some bases for my units.

Oh and some T-55s to flesh out my East Germans and to start my new Cuban force.

The T-55s arrived and I liked them so much, I ordered another set!

Currently my East Germans now have a T-55 battalion with 2 companies. Pictures to follow in the T-55 article

The infantry arrived and I have painted most of them, just waiting on bases from them. At present, I now have 2 additional companies of Soviet Infantry, while the Polish Naval Infantry division is getting fully manned.

What they will need now is some more transports. So depending on situations, they will be getting OT-64s shortly within the year. BTR-60s and BMP-1s and BMP-2s will also be increasing.

I got the new bases for the figures and Cuban grenade launcher team but still need super glue.

Autobahn Firefight Sovietys vs British

 A British and Australian force are holding one of the last exits on the Autobahn against a Soviet tank division.

This was a very hard fought battle. Eventually with a hard push by the Soviets, they neutralized the Royal Artillery and surged to flank the last remains of the Death or Glory boys, but it did cost them an entire tank Battalion

 A Soviets Czechoslovakian attack has pushed against the West German and Americans near Fulda. Canadian forces and French troops are supporting.

The objective as usual is the bridge and crossroads to continue the Socialist advance.

The West Germans have thrown in reserves to assist in the defense using a squadron of M48, and M-41s 

The Canadians and Americans have rushed their tanks to hold the bridge. The Soviet plan was to throw all their tanks against the infantry holding the ridge overlooking the bridge. They've been somewhat successful in holding the ridge but have yet to capture the main bridge. The secondary bridge was captured by the Czech Paras. West German anti-aircraft section took out all the Hinds, while Czech rockets pummeled the Armoured Recce battalion.

Despite the efforts of the Frech, Canadian, West German and Americans, the Soviets were able to capture the objective. 

An all out push by the Motor Rifles secured the bridge while the new T-80 company took out many NATO  tanks. Next, the British 

6th Polish Airborne division

The 6th Airborne Division of the Polish People's Army was Polands chief special forces unit. 

To field this unit, I've painted 2 Hind Helicopters in Polish colours and painted troops for the unit. At present, the Assault Landing Company has

4 AKM teams

4 RPG-7 teams. 

Any additional paratroopers will be air dropped onto the table.

7th Polish Naval Infantry Division

 I'll post more on this unit

The force does consist of a squadron of PT-76 amphibious tanks 1 as an HQ, 4 as the squadron. Using PAVN cards from NAM, which when I moved to Nunavut I left behind in Nova Scotia. Duh

Naval infantry consists of 4 RPG-7, 4 AKM of Polish Naval Infantry

Division requires BM-21 for artillery support 

Until I build up the T-72 and BMP boxed sets for Poland, the entire Polish kits I have will become the Naval Division.

Hungarian Revolution 1956

 I've been reading up on this and plan on some actions. 

My plan is fight this game in 1/72 in order to use several sets. 

The table will be my urban one, just need to get the game set up shortly.

Hungarians will be infantry with some left over WW2 weapons

The Soviets will be a mix of T-55, T-34/85, ISU-152,

Leopard campaign: Forward edge of Battle

 I've decided to fight a West German led defensive campaign this summer with my Team Yankee kits and my 1/72 gear. 

The scenarios are from the book Leopard.

I'm slowly painting up my Warsaw Pact forces for another season of games 

In my research, I will ensure that the East Germans will have BMP-1 and the Polish.

The Czechs are enabled to have these and the BMP-2

Wow look what I found

I was just giddy like a schoolboy when I saw this. While this version was the Recce version, it gave me a better idea of how they were used. 

I've ordered the BMP battalion box from Battlefront Miniatures. 

Spare bits bash: Soviet supplied kit reworked

 I have a hull of an IS 2 which has tracks on it, but no top. I've been debating how I can work with it. I think I have a solution!

In Zagola T-34/85 book, he has pictures of Soviet client states who took bits and pieces and worked them together to make self propelled guns.

I know I have a spare 152mm gun barrel. With some coaxing I believe that I can replicate an Arab SP gun.

East German Revolt 1954

East germans vs Soviets

This game will utilize some Ww2 German kit and obviously Soviet kit from the end of Ww2.

The East Germans have realized that the glorious Communist liberation has not resulted in the rehabilitation of Germany.

Germans who have been able to get their hands on weapons are in open rebellion against the East German army and the Soviets.

It should be an interesting game. I shall use Flames of War and Team Yankee rules

Panzers of the Warsaw Pact: The T-62M tank

the T-62 force is a mix of souped up kits and regular

The T-62 tank was not the best of weapon systems, but it's one of my favorites due to seeing it in the film The Beast.

I ordered the set via Amazon rather then trying to visit the game shop as I doubted that they would be brought in. In the summer of 2023, I ordered another set to give a Soviet troop and to flesh out my Iraqi force. I plan on fielding this tank as a battalion.

I've started building the kits, having finished one tank. The second tank I will build as a regular T-62. The main idea is to also have tanks which can almost be like snipers on NATO tanks.

I've got them painted just need to decal them up. As mixed versions, this unit will definitely be a second line unit.

I just need to take a few pictures of them.

I had gotten 3 in 1/72 which I will be throwing into games after I run my first major campaign. 

Father's Day presents arrived.

So I splurged on myself for father's day and my birthday. The Warsaw Pact gained several kits. Some I had been debating on not getting but I decided to after all.
Now one thing I have decided to do is to split up parts of the Artillery between the Warsaw Pact until I can fully equip each force. This way it will give each force a bit more kit.
The Czechoslovakian force will stand as is until I can get some OT-64s and DANA'S
as will the Polish.
The Polish will get a Hail Launcher and a Carnation.
So, the Soviet 199th Guards Artillery Regiment will see its batteries reduced temporarily. However they will still be powerful with a Hail, Carnation and a full Acacia battery and a T-62 squadron
