Korea 1951 Imjin River

 While this is slightly earlier than most, I've been itching to play some earlier Cold War actions. This one pits a Commonwealth force against a Communist North Korean and Chinese force.

 A mixed infantry force of Argyles and Royal Ulster Rifles with tank support drive up the valley to push back the Communists

It was a near run thing for the British. The Chinese were holding firm to the hill and the T-34/85 gave the Cromwells a run for their money. Eventually with the fire of the Royal Artillery, the Communist tanks had their back broken and determined charges by the Ulsters drove them off.

Free for All: UK attack on Polish in Denmark

The British 1st Armoured Division begins to deploy with the attached Australians on the right flank

The British main force has hit back hard on the Polish Division.

The Australian  infantry with Milan systems  are part of Australian 5th/7th RAR, with their Wombat jeeps in support.

Initially the Beirish made a cautious approach, losing one of their HQ tanks and an anti-tank troop. One of the Australian jeeps was knocked out as were most of the Australian M113s. However, the Auzzies were not about to give up the ghost and began to pick off the Polish tanks with their Milan gunners. The infantry took the bridge on the right flank.

Meanwhile the British began to flood into the village. One plucky Lieutenant of the Irish Guards led his platoon into a ploughed field. This was matched by the Polish advancing their BMP-2 section and infantry to pour fire into the Irishmen who were all taken out. 

The Royal Artillery then began to rain bombardments down on the Polish right flank. The BTR-60 APCs were able to halt the advance of the Australian Recce Squadron but were unable to stop the rest of the Queens Dragoon Guards from rushing in and destroying the Polish infantry in the village. Even with a Polish Air Assault group, it was not enough to halt the advance and the Polish Division what was left of it to withdraw. 

The British and for the most part Australian units held enough strength to continue their offensive.

Soviets hold the objective by their fingernails, forcing the British to fall back. The Soviet advance can continue. 

World War III British Team Yankee

Battlefront Miniatures has revamped their Team Yankee series as World War III Team Yankee. The first book out is British.
I purchased a digital copy and it fits perfectly in line with the kits I own. There are a few I would like to get including an enlarged set, but this may take time.
I already have all the kits from the first series including the book Iron Maiden.
From the new series I have
1. Challenger Tanks: 3 in 1/72
2. Warrior IFV: 1 in 1/72
3. MLRS: 2 in 1/87

The other sets I would like is the Fox Recce

I expanded my Chieftains today by getting a box of the set from Battlefront Miniatures. I plan on building up 3 as regular Chieftains but 2 I will model with the additional armor. Eventually I built all 5 with the upgrade

In addition to the 3 Swingfires attached as an Anti-tank platoon and for Air defense a Spartan Blowpipe platoon.

My Challenger section of the Queens Royal Hussars, with a Warrior section, a Swingfire platoon, a Recce platoon. Additional elements will be added slowly.

There is enough infantry to have at least another full brigade,  

For most of the battles using the Battlefront Miniatures kits, I'll be using them alone minus the 1/72 kits, however, when I'm not posting battle reports for Battlefront I will be using both scales in my games

17th/21st Lancers: 5 Chieftain Tanks to be added later, for now, a troop of Cromwells will have to do.
1st Battalion, Irish Guards: 6 FV432s, 3 infantry sections mounted in 3 FV432s, a Milan section in 1 FV432, a Spartan Milan section of 2 Spartans, a mortar platoon in 2 FV432s.
7th Field Regiment, Royal Artillery: 2 M109 SP guns, 4 Abbot Sp guns and a single MLRS launcher.

Royal Artillery in Team Yankee, Abbots, M109s, L118 towed guns

I ordered a set of Abbots from Battlefront Miniatures, the makers of the Team Yankee system. I also bought the British supplement Iron Maiden.
This is a vehicle which I wanted to have for quite some time. The artillery support for my British force now consists of two batteries of Abbots, a battery of  M109 which can also be fielded.
And I also have an MLRS launcher.

For team Yankee, the Iron Division consists of two units

Gibraltar Battery, Royal Artillery: 4 Abbots

2 Field Regiment Royal Artillery: 2 M109

with a Forward Observation Officer mounted in an FV 432. 

46th Air Defense Battery, Royal Artillery: 4 Blowpipe SAM launchers.

In 1/72 I have a 4 105mm gun battery with trucks and crew.

Irish Guards Battlegroup 1985

This force is made up of a variety of units. I have augmented what I have with adhock mix of equipment.
One section is mounted in an FV432 while

others are kitted out in 2 Humber Pigs.

Armored support comes from 17/21st Lancers in a section of 3 Chieftains with a Recce Squadron of Scorpion and Scimitars.
As well a Humber 76mm armoured car adds support.
I have built this force as I have due to the kit I have and also on the assumption that replacement kit would be lacking due to budget cuts and gear in storage.

Additional support is also found with a section of 2 Abbott Self propelled guns.

I've been able to decal the infantry sections and the mortar battery. The other AT sections I've done up in bits.

This was the formation sent to the Falklands. I will also use it as a light infantry brigade/ Battle group for my Team Yankee games in 1/72.
