So I decided to buy a set of Plastic Soldier Company Soviet Infantry. The set is HUGE! 124 figures, so this will fill out my Russians and with the heavy weapons will fill out my other Warsaw Pact units.
The set arrived today! I shall dig out the paint.
10/31/2018
Arrived on Halloween and mounted the first company. Need to reference my books
So far I have painted up a full unit of Russians and have augmented my Czech and Polish units. Pictures will follow
As well, there was a sale on diecast T-62s. So I now have a company of these tanks on the way to fit out the other 1/72 vehicles. Still in the mail due to a Canadian postal strike as of 11/21 but arrived 11/30. When I have a chance next week I shall post pictures of my entire Soviet force that I have at the moment.
Off the top of my head, I have 6 T-80s, 3 T62s, 1 Grad Truck Rocket Launcher,
3 Carnations Sp guns, 3 BMP-1,
Now to get a picture of the T-62s up
A war gamming blog on the Cold War in 1/72. Emphasis on plastic figures, and equipment on all sides. Plus a smattering of Pop culture soldiers on both sides of the divide would have enjoyed.
Know your enemy! Nato vs Warsaw Pact

In addition, a Blowpipe Anti-aircraft section is being fielded, and a single tracked SAM launcher.
ANZAC armoured Brigade, Europe, 1985
Milan Anti-tank section, 5th/7th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment. These fellows I am painting in the 1980s camo.
Another addition is a Cavalry troop made up of 4 M113 MRV (2 with Saladin turrets, 2 with Scorpion turrets) and an M113 LRV, basically a carrier with the gun shield. I'm building it up from scratch. this is in my 1/72 collection.
My Australian units from Vietnam will be drafted in, which is the infantry component. I have no plans on painting them in the Australian camo pattern as I still need them for Vietnam.
The 2 FSV, Zippo, and basic carrier.
Eventually I will add 3 more carriers once I have sorted out the Canadian set.
As of today, 1/2019, the Australians have a tank squadron with one Centurion for the 1/72 collection
For actual Team Yankee in 1985, they do have a squadron of New Zealand squadron of 2 Scorpions.
I will be building up the Scorpions from the kit I got today.
I've been able to upgrade this force with additional M113 FSV and a Milan group. I was able to get some Leopard 1 tanks but am awaiting their arrival in Nunavut winter 2023.
Further growth to this force will be to have M113s with the gun turrets and mortar carriers. I have one battery of mortar carriers which are kit bashed, ie with terrain coverings to disguise the fact they have only half the parts.
4th Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group 1985
This is the Team Yankee formation using Canadian Units.
So far I have built up the 4th Brigade Group. This has the equipment which Canada had in Europe prior to their withdrawal in 1993.
The 4th Mechanized Brigade Group will consist of
1 Leopard C1 Squadron (3 Leopard tanks)
1 M113 Mechanized Infantry Company (3 M113 APC)
Additional units fielded include an ADATS squadron of 2 launchers
a M109 battery,
A blowpipe section mounted in jeeps
A TOW troop of 2M113s and
A mortar element both M113 and dismounted as well as a set of Canadian infantry.
As well, a Lynx recce squadron is also fielded
Both Canadian units which I am building consist of equipment which I already have plus elements which I will pick up.
Most of what I have is not listed in the books, but would have come from either reserve units, or would have exhisted in 1985 and could have been bought "off the shelf" to ensure Canadian units would have been able to hold their ground. This will become a Battlegroup which I shall build up.
Heavy support elements will come from the Germans as I eliminated my American forces. However I do have a small section of Americans who will provide additional support.
