The Jordanian 25pdr battery open up and cause a Syrian T-34/85 squadron to bail out.

The Sexton then fires as well but fails to take them out. The Jordanian Anti-tank battery of M10s knocks out 2 more while the Fireflys finish them off. The M-41 squadron push ahead and fire on the IS-2 squadron bailing them out while the M48 squadron advance and knock out several BTR-50 APCs. The infantry remain in reserve.

Despite the tenacity of the Jordanians, the Syrians and PLA held onto the town. King Hussien will reorganize and try again.

Jordanian vs PLO 1970.

One of the conflicts which is being covered by Battlefront Miniatures is Oil Wars which has a big bit on the Iran Iraq conflict of 1979-89.
There is also their earlier Arab Israeli wars also.

However I have been reading one of my history books Guerrilla Warfare (1985) by Buson Books. One of the conflicts covered is the Jordanian army offensive against the PLO in September 1970. This included a Syrian brigade made up of infantry and armored vehicles.
The Jordanian army was using a mix of British Ww2 infantry kit, Artillery but had US Armor and British Armor.
The Syrians had Soviet equipment.
The Palestinians had small arms from the Eastern block,and or surplus kit from WW2

So I should be able to put an action together of this.

I made a large trade with a new friend and recipient of a Centurion and Chieftain tank. Not to mention the Cold War era infantry that I got for both sides. Fun fun. More to follow

 

The first set of figures I got are Ceaser US Army which I will paint up as generic US equipped troops for any nation from 1945-80. Many ideas I have are for Asian, African, and South American armies.
Next up are Soviet/Warsaw Pact armed troops. These definitely will find themselves on the battlefields of Asia, Africa, South America and perhaps the Middle East

Further trades are being made. I've  decided to trade my Napoleonic French for some more WW2 and Cold War figures and kits.

In my recent trade I was also able to get a collection of figures which are suitable as modern armed militia types armed with AK-47s gpmg s RPG sevens Uzis as well as an assortment of weapons suitable for the time of 1950 up to 2000.

Once I get some paint on these I'll add these as well.

Meanwhile in Hong Kong

A lot of my modern terrain, buildings has a distinctly Asian-Japanese look to it. This little game could be a what if situation of the PLA in the early 80s had decided to cause problems for the garrison.
For this little action, I shall put a few buildings up, try laying out some streets, and buildings. I have some British AFVs ,  pictures to follow.

This action is based off of a what if scenario during the riots in Hong Kong in 1967. The PLA had a plan to invade Hong Kong to take it back from the British. This action is a probe by PLA militia disguised as armed peasants.

The British troops are made up of units from the garrison, supported by armored units. 

The British garrison deploys in extended 

order. Two mounted companies and a truck mounted weapons support company.

Hopefully I will be able to do some turns with this game before I have to pack it up and move down to our new apartment in December.

The British advanced across the open area in extended order and spilit apart to take on different areas. Mistake one by the British. The PLA units simply picked off the armor units with RPGs and tank rounds.

 The supporting Scorpions and Humber Pigs opened up on the apartments taking out some of the gunmen but failing to take out the snipers.

The picture below which I will reattach held a Carl Gustav team and a GPMG team, however, the Chinese snipers noted the Landrovers pulling up behind and lobbing grenades into the open decks, taking out the GPMG team but missed the Anti-tank group. who then fired into the building eliminating the snipers.

By the end of the game, all viechles had been eliminated. Both sides of infantry then withdrew.
