Jordanian vs PLO 1970.

One of the conflicts which is being covered by Battlefront Miniatures is Oil Wars which has a big bit on the Iran Iraq conflict of 1979-89.
There is also their earlier Arab Israeli wars also.

However I have been reading one of my history books Guerrilla Warfare (1985) by Buson Books. One of the conflicts covered is the Jordanian army offensive against the PLO in September 1970. This included a Syrian brigade made up of infantry and armored vehicles.
The Jordanian army was using a mix of British Ww2 infantry kit, Artillery but had US Armor and British Armor.
The Syrians had Soviet equipment.
The Palestinians had small arms from the Eastern block, and or surplus kit from WW2

So I should be able to put an action together of this.
a Centurion tank which I was able to pick up this year.

British Advance on Brettmar, 1985

The British having been equipped with new transports, anti-tanks Milan teams and fresh troops are eager to push back against the Communist hordes.
The main force consists of the Irish Guards Battle group with attached support and an ANZAC brigade.
a full Chieftain section, one of the tanks I got in trade this spring

traffic jam on the Highway caused issues for the British offensive

Scorpion squadron

Challenger section with a Centurion scrounged up by the REME from a depot back in the UK to help make up for losses in the war.

Warsaw Pact forces are fielding older kit as the war attrition begins to affect units.
While the British were to have launched an offensive, a Bulgarian and Romanian force rushed forward to block the planned attack. Their artillery did a number on British units while massive swarms of infantry have nullified the armor. Despite the artillery being towed, they halted the British armor. The situation still remains uncertain.

French offensive at Cronheim, September 1985

This will be the French baptism of fire. The French force, is a bit light, namely a Mechanized brigade, with attached Belgian and Italian troops.
The Soviets are attempting to capture a crossroad, while the French led force must prevent them.
Due to the damage inflicted, the Belgians are mounted in trucks. The French are mounted in their APCs but additional troops are riding on the tanks. The Italians likewise are also truck mounted.
The Belgians have brought some older heavy weapons as the factories and logistics can't keep up with the anti-tank missile demand.

Due to my schedule, I forgot to take pictures of the action.
The first auction was the Italian armored regiment trying to hit the Soviets flank this resulted in the Italian tanks being taken out very quickly by a Soviet t-72 Battalion however the Italians were able to take out the Soviet bmp-2 recce Battalion who had been able to actually take out a few of the Italian tanks with their any tank weapons.

The French recce Battalion went in with their wheeled armored vehicles taking on the Soviet Center doing very well in the process with their two shots from their guns however each of these armored cars were eventually knocked off one by one by a Soviet pincer move the Soviet motorized infantry were able to swarm into the center of the battlefield making good use of their RPGs and their medium machine guns to suppress the Italian Belgian and French infantry that was in the area the French did rather well for a bit however their tanks were take a note by the mass of Soviet armor the French motorized infantry in their armored vehicles were able to hold on to certain areas but the Infantry teams kept wanting to hold on to the positions they were holding in defense and really did not do much of an offensive nature during the entire game the crossroads which the Soviets needed to capture as a rejective they were able to finally warm enough units to hold the position late into the game and the French and belgians were unable to pry it from the Soviet grasp by the end of turn six the Soviets actually held both objectives achieving a victory over the French lead NATO force.
