Encounter: ANZAC recce takes on a Soviet Recce

I've yet to have an ANZAC stand alone action, owing to the fact that the force has been small, but I was able to increase the size of the force this summer.

The current ANZAC Brigade consists of

M113 Cavalry troop (3)

5th/7th RAR

M113 (3) with infantry

M125 Mortars (2)

Milan teams (8)

106mm Landrover (4)

Scorpion troop (2)

In this scenario the ANZAC recce force is holding a wooded ridge overlooking a highway.

The Soviet force is made up of a Recce battn

BMP-1 BMP-2 Storm supported by a BMP mounted Motor rifle section.

Fall 1985 offensive for 2020

Recce for my ANZACs

Soviet SA-13 for my Anti-Aircraft Regiment
Some Soviet Anti-tank support
NATO Leopard and Helicopter support
Vive La France
Either these are 2 PPCLI or 2R22eR
RCHA Anti-aircraft artillery
My main French unit, need more of them
More T-64s
my Iraqi bits

The Motor Rifles growing

So I set out all of the Warsaw Pact units minus the Airborne support and saw that some units have gaps, ie, the Soviets lack BMP-1 for their Motorized rifle Regiments. Eventually I will rectify this, but it does make for an interesting look at how the Soviets would have been pressured into fielding equipment to make up for losses.

On the other hand, my NATO forces are slowly creeping up on the offensive.

During this summer's season I have been able to equip some more units with M113 variations with several units of mortar carriers. Once I can organize my additional tables, I will be able to use the units in a campaign. The results will be my own tournament to see how well my NATO forces can push back against the Warsaw Pact invasion of Western Europe.

Interesting to note that so far, in my games the attacking player is usually the one who wins. I have been using the artificial opponent which Battlefront Miniatures came up with during the Covid pandemic.

I've also been able to get caught up on a few things so I'm going to see about some additions to the table.

Yuri's Wolves: T-64 tanks

Finally my full Soviet T-64 force

My T-64 Regiment is now fully equipped.
I have a HQ section of 1 tank and 3 sections
2 of 5 tanks
1 of 4 tanks.
They also have a Recce section of BMP-2 of 2 carriers.
I've been able to paint and decal them, just haven't been able to post many pictures
The force ready to go to battle.
Total T-64 yanks: 18 as of 5/2022.
